“Little Blue Flower” Blooms Pacific Health Insurance helps children with rare diseases in action

On July 16, the “Love is not rare, benefit from moving forward” children’s rare disease care activity was successfully held in Shanghai Children’s Medical Center. At present, there are 20 million patients with various rare diseases in my country, and about 200,000 new patients are added every year. With a huge base, rare diseases are actually not “rare”. How to actively deal with them has become an unavoidable social problem. Children with rare diseases especially need care from all walks of life.

As one of the sponsors, Shanghai Children’s Medical Center has made a series of important achievements in the field of rare disease diagnosis and treatment. At present, it has diagnosed more than 600 difficult and rare diseases, more than 10 of which are “first reported in the world”, and more than 100 of which are “first reported in China”. Through the “Little Blue Flower” project, more children with rare diseases will be provided with multidisciplinary cooperative diagnosis and treatment to help them overcome difficulties.

Dr. Li Xin, Dr. Li Qun, and Dr. Zhang Qianwen from Shanghai Children’s Medical Center conducted science popularization on three rare diseases including NOONAN syndrome, Delange syndrome and ALSTROM syndrome.

During the free clinic, seven experts from the Department of Endocrinology, Department of Neurology and Nutrition, Department of Cardiovascular Medicine and other professional departments of the Children’s Medical Center participated in the free clinic, patiently and meticulously diagnosed nearly 100 children with rare diseases present, and provided personalized treatment suggestions and daily maintenance guidance.

Among the current public welfare projects, the “Little Blue Flower” project has shown special appeal, not only because of the particularity of its focus group, but also because since the establishment of the project, the sponsors have worked together to explore, the connotation of the activity has been continuously deepened, and the implementation methods have also become diversified and rich.

In November 2022, Pacific Health Insurance joined hands with Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation and Shanghai Children’s Medical Center to carry out strategic cooperation in the “Little Blue Flower” public welfare project in the field of rare diseases in children. The project focuses on the four dimensions of cognition, treatment, rehabilitation and research of rare diseases in children, and helps to solve problems such as diagnosis and treatment, rehabilitation and social integration of rare diseases. On February 28 this year, the “Send You A Little Blue Flower” online public welfare free clinic activity was successfully held, and the “Little Blue Flower” love rights were simultaneously launched on the Pacific Health Insurance “Blue Medical Insurance” applet. Pacific Health Insurance actively explores the onlineization of users + public welfare, and drives more people in the society to participate in the cause of caring for rare diseases. In June of the same year, the “Little Blue Flower” dream catcher activity was officially launched. At the site of this event, the first donation of the “Little Blue Flower” public welfare project was implemented as planned, and Pacific Health Insurance provided 20,000 yuan in support for 7 children with rare diseases to help them treat and recover.
