The big-screen MacBook Air is here!Key Parameters Dust Settled

Apple will release a new large-screen MacBook Air at WWDC2023 on June 6. The latest news shows that this product will still be equipped with M2 series chips. Due to the adjustment of TSMC’s production plan, the M3 chip cannot be delivered on schedule, so it will be postponed to the third quarter.

In terms of overall design, the large-sized version of the MacBook Air will be consistent with the M2 version of the MacBook Air released last year. It still has flat edges, a large Force Touch trackpad, a keyboard with function keys, etc., and may also be equipped with a MagSafe charging interface. , an upgraded speaker system and a 1080p camera.

At the same time, the 15.5-inch MacBook Air will be equipped with the M2 Pro chip and will use a 67W power adapter.

In addition, this notebook will maintain the same front design language as the MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch, which also means that this model will have a notch screen, while further narrowing the black border, and using the same type of keyboard and touch screen. control panel.

Apple plans to redesign the speakers for the 15.5-inch MacBook Air to be better loud, though the sound quality won’t be at the Pro level.

At the same time, benefiting from the larger screen and more internal space after the body becomes larger, Apple’s M2 Pro chip is likely to be equipped with a radiator, which will sacrifice the quietness of the Air.

Most importantly, the 15.5-inch MacBook Air will not use the same Mini LED screen as the MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch, but will still use the same LCD screen as the M2 MacBook Air.

But for most users, the perception in actual use is not obvious, especially after comparing the prices of the two, the LCD screen is particularly fragrant.

That is to say,The MacBook Air 15.5-inch version is actually an enlarged version of the MacBook Air 13-inch released by Apple in WWDC2022 last year.

However, there are also voices saying that the MacBook Air 15.5-inch will benefit from the larger screen area and can accommodate the M2 Pro chip with higher heat generation. Therefore, the MacBook Air 15.5-inch version will have two configurations, M2 and M2 Pro.

At present, it seems that the new MacBook products released during WWDC2023 will use the M2 chip instead of the M3 chip that Apple has not yet released.

The M3 chip using the 3nm process will have better performance than the M2 chip in terms of power consumption and performance. Especially under the premise that the M2 chip has disappointed many consumers in terms of performance upgrades, the performance of the M3 chip is even more exciting. But all this will have to wait until Apple’s MacBook series products in the second half of the year.
