The 3rd Tianjin Cricket Club and Cricket Cultural Festival was successfully held

Sponsored by the Tianjin Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Association and hosted by Tianjin Huichuan Antique City and Guchongzhai Liuhe Culture, the “Tianjin Third Cricket Friendship Cricket Cultural Festival” was held on September 27 at Huichuan Antique City. More than 60 cricket fans and inheritors of Tianjin municipal intangible cultural heritage skills gathered together to enjoy the feast.

Tianjin’s cricket culture has a long history. Relying on the transportation advantages of the Grand Canal, Tianjin has prospered water transportation and gathered merchants. Since ancient times, there has been a folk competition tradition of cricket fighting, which has been followed to this day. Cricket culture has become a major feature of Tianjin’s intangible cultural heritage and has a profound folk foundation.

Jiang Guoguang, the planner of this event, director of the Tianjin Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Association, and the third generation inheritor of Jiang’s Feather Clay Sculpture Painting, said that Tianjin is the first city in the country to establish a cricket association. Tianjin’s cricket fighting record has been in the country for a long time. For a while, he dominated the country. Moreover, Tianjin was also the first to put cricket fighting on the TV screen and hold the National TV Cricket Competition. In addition, Lin Xi, a famous writer in Tianjin, also wrote a novel “The Fourth Master Cricket” specifically around crickets. Tianjin is a city that truly makes culture out of bugs.

Jiang Guoguang said that we Tianjin people love to play very much and are very good at playing. We can do whatever we want to do. The same goes for playing with bugs. In fact, playing is not simple at all. Playing is the foundation of knowledge between heaven and earth. Our Cricket Friends Association Cricket Culture Festival also hopes that through the healthy competition model, the traditional Chinese cricket culture can develop and continue healthily.
