Le Elements cooperates with Shanghai Science and Technology Museum to create popular science games to improve the popularization rate of scientific literacy
On February 25, 2023, a seminar themed “Development Trend of Popular Science Games in the New Era” was held at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. This conference focused on the three levels of “platform, model, and industry” and focused on problems in the development of the popular science game industry and coping strategies were discussed in depth. Following the first national popular science game conference in 2021, this seminar presented new ideas, new concepts and new works of popular science games, and unveiled the popular science game platform of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. More than 30 experts from government agencies, scientific research institutes, science popularization venues and game companies participated in the meeting. At the opening ceremony, Cheng Donghong, chairman of the Chinese Society of Natural Science Museums, delivered a speech for the seminar.
In 2018, the game industry has been included in the country’s “strategic emerging industries”. As one of the key industries for the integrated development of technology and culture, the game industry has become the vanguard of cultural output. According to the “14th Five-Year Plan for Building a Globally Influential Science and Technology Innovation Center in Shanghai” and “14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Science Popularization in Shanghai” respectively, it is mentioned that “social institutions are encouraged to meet the needs of families or parent-child science popularization, and provide Courseware, educational toys, popular science games and other products suitable for family science education.”
As one of the important achievements of this meeting, the seminar held the “Unveiling Ceremony of the Science Popularization Game Platform of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum”. Wang Xiaoming, curator of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, and Qin Wenbo, president of Shanghai Academy of Sciences jointly unveiled the platform. After the unveiling ceremony, Shanghai Science and Technology Museum signed an agreement on co-construction of a popular science game platform with Le Element Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. In the keynote report, Gao Shusheng, deputy director of the Cultural Big Data Industry Committee of the China Public Relations Association, proposed “National Cultural Digitalization Strategy: Technical Route and Central Link”. He suggested that a new mode of natural education can be gradually explored by means of popular science games.
